On Saturday 1st December we took part in the Mill Road Winter Fair, Carnival Parade. Kinetika worked in partnership with Parkside Federation, who this year celebrated the centenary of Parkside School. We worked with Nicky Webb, a local resident and creative producer, dance teacher Verity Merryweather, music teacher Rebecca Lewis, and community Partnerships Manager/Drama Teacher, Kay Blayney each of whom gave us incredible support and enthusiasm and enabled the students to create a very memorable occasion.

“You really inspired those teachers… but also the local artists who worked in the primary schools. Your fabulous costumes, the dandelions and the silicon queen were of course spectacular and really made the event feel like something special. I think all who took part will remember the day for a good while yet, as will lots of the audience.” – Nicky Webb

Despite the poor weather, the parade was attended by thousands of happy onlookers, as well as the Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Sheila Stuart (pictured above) who told Cambridge News“I led the carnival parade, which was a particular favourite of mine, and certainly added to the community spirit and festive atmosphere”.
